A Dalilin Matar Uba follows the complicated bonds within Alhaji Abdullahi’s household, where two wives and their children initially appear to share a comfortable, affectionate family life. Hajiya Sa’adatu, deeply troubled by years without a child, struggles when her husband’s second wife, Hajiya Halima, has children—especially Zeezee, the daughter who becomes the center of her father’s world. As the children grow, their home life expands to include school friendships, youthful affection, and the loyal companionship between Zeezee and Isma’il. The story takes a more unsettling turn when Zeezee is found in a vulnerable condition away from the security of her family. Afrah, moved by compassion, brings her into her home and tries to care for her, even as her brother Musaddiq warns that kindness can carry unexpected risks. Meanwhile, Isma’il is distressed by Zeezee’s disappearance and begins searching for news of her. Blending family tension, tenderness, suspicion, and young love, this first part sets several relationships on uncertain paths while raising questions about what happened to Zeezee and whether she can safely return to those who care for her.
