A Gidanmu Take
Part One
By Billyn Abdul
Ahmad is consumed by remorse after losing Fateemah, the woman he once mistreated and may never see again. While his friend Habeeb urges him to pray and seek forgiveness, Ahmad searches orphanages and clings to the hope that Fateemah is still alive. His attempts to return to his family are met with anger from his mother, who blames him for the pain and upheaval surrounding Fateemah’s disappearance. In another household, twin sisters Bintu and Beebah appear close yet differ sharply in temperament. Quiet, hardworking Bintu is drawn into a relationship with Abdul, while outspoken Beebah’s hostility repeatedly creates tension at home. Questions about Bintu’s resemblance to their mother and the twins’ different personalities add unease to the family. As Abdul’s marriage plans become entangled with a confusing pre-wedding photograph, Ahmad and Habeeb devise an awkward scheme involving the sisters. Alongside romance, family conflict, guilt, and strained loyalties, the story follows characters trying to repair damaged relationships while secrets and old wounds continue to shape their choices.
