Salma and Ja’afar once built their marriage on deep affection, but married life soon exposes the differences between them. Salma’s choices and changing behaviour frustrate Ja’afar, while his strict rules and quick temper leave her feeling controlled and misunderstood. A careless remark about marriage brings their conflict to a breaking point, and Ja’afar begins using the possibility of taking another wife to provoke her jealousy. As rumours spread among their neighbours, Salma is forced to confront the consequences of her conduct, the gossip surrounding her home, and the part she has played in damaging the peace of her marriage. The arrival of Bintu introduces a new source of tension, while motherhood and the demands of caring for Miemie complicate Salma and Ja’afar’s already fragile relationship. Their arguments increasingly become a struggle over trust, authority, forgiveness, and the right to shape their own futures. With Salma determined to return to school and Ja’afar trying to impose conditions on her life, their former romance is tested by pride, family pressure, jealousy, and difficult choices.
