A Ranar Sallah

Part One
By Saadatu

I was sitting in one of the chairs that were arranged in the living room, a centre table in front of me, on top of it was a food flask, while on the side a television was busy working.
.
My attention was not with me,
This was the fourth week since I returned home
In these days, many things happened, including meeting Kursiyya again.
.
The matter happened at the Eid prayer ground after the prayer was concluded, everyone started going their own way, and that was when I too began thinking of how I would meet her.
Suddenly, as if from nowhere, I saw her about to pass by my side. I greeted her and she responded, and that was when she informed me that she had met my brother, Mujahid, and that she had even given him her phone number and address.
.
That was when I told her my name, and she informed me of the area where she lives, and she gave me her number. In front of my eyes, she entered a car and they drove off.
.
Right now, sitting here in this living room, I have no thought except thinking of how I will arrange things with this girl who said she loves me;
I endured and opened the flask in front of me — it was rice cooked with everything, with fish that had been mashed on top of it.
Immediately I took this food, the remaining portion that was left, without leaving even a spoonful.
.
I opened the fridge and took cold water and drank, then
It was only then that I came back to my senses and checked the time — it was three twenty, 3:20.
.
So I got up and went to Mujahid's house but I did not find him.
Therefore I brought out my phone and dialled the number saved with the name MY LOVE TO BE.
.
It rang once and the call was answered, "Assalamu'alaikum, who is this?" from the other side.
"Wa'alaikumussalam," I said.
"Please, who am I speaking with?" she said again for the second time.
"It is not right for you to say you have forgotten this voice."
"Hmm, or is it Shuraih?"
I laughed, knowing she would hear the sound of it, then I said,
"SHAKKA-BABU" (No doubt).
"I have been trying to call you for a long time and heard nothing, I said maybe you are not well," she said. "How are you?" I asked instead.
"You know how I am right now."
"Indeed you are in good health." She laughed in a way that made me wish I could just stay and sleep listening to the sound of her laughter.
.
"Alright, are you ready? I am waiting for you at the Emir's palace."
"What will we do at the Emir's palace?" I asked, dragging our conversation longer.
.
"There is nothing we will do there, since you know I am not from your town, and I heard that after the prayer there are places where Sallah activities are held, so I want to look around a bit, to give my eyes some rest from being indoors."
.
"You mean we are going sightseeing?"
"Whatever you want to call it, and do not forget to come early, please.
.
"Don't worry, if it is for me, just give me ten minutes."
Then I ended the call. Quickly, without wasting time, I bathed, and as I was coming out I took one of my black zariya (attire) and put it on, then I took a cap. After that I sprayed perfume all over my body.
.
I stepped out to the roadside, to wait for a cab, and that was when I remembered I had no change, not even a kobo in my pocket.
.
Immediately, the problem showed itself clearly before me — NAIRA AND KOBO (money matters).
I ran back into the house and went to my mother and told her to lend me two thousand naira; without hesitation she gave me.
.
As I came out to the roadside, I heard my phone ringing, a sign that messages had entered. As I was about to delete them, another voice within me said before you delete, you should check and see.
.
As I opened this message, I came across something that left me...
