A Makabarta Aka Haifeni
Part One
By Billyn Abdul
For eighteen years, a royal household has carried the weight of an unexplained tragedy. An ailing elder remains confined to a wheelchair, while the disappearance of Fulani, the king’s wife, continues to cast suspicion and grief across the kingdom. Behind the palace walls, rivalries among the royal women, guarded conversations, and possible betrayal suggest that someone knows more than they are willing to reveal. Away from the palace, a young girl lives beside an old cemetery with her mentally disturbed mother, both surrounded by hardship and unanswered questions. Their lives become connected to the royal family when Prince Areef rescues a beautiful, mute girl from drowning near the palace grounds. Unable to explain who she is or where she came from, the girl’s arrival unsettles those who have tried to keep the past buried. As the search for Fulani and her missing child intensifies, old secrets begin to surface and the palace moves toward a reckoning. A Makabarta Aka Haifeni is a Hausa royal mystery filled with hidden identities, family tension, and long-suppressed truth.
